Randy Michael Fabel was born August 5, 1959, in Breckenridge, Minnesota to Gary and Marilyn (Olson) Fabel. He grew up in Kimball, moving to Brainerd to complete high school. He graduated from Brainerd High School in 1978. While in high school, Randy was a four-sport athlete, and was a 1,000 point scorer in basketball. He then furthered his education at St. Cloud State University to obtain his bachelor's degree, while also continuing his basketball career. Randy then earned his master's degree from Southwest Minnesota State University. He taught carpentry at Ridgewater College and St. Cloud Technical College. Randy lived in St. Cloud, Robbinsdale and Willmar, before moving to Grand Lake, near Cold Spring. Randy was an avid supporter of his boys during their high school and college careers. He also led by example, instilling hard work and grit in his family. With Randy, a project was never too big or too small. His way of showing he cared was through the work he could do with his hands, and the knowledge he shared. When not helping with a project, Randy could be found at his favorite place, his cabin on Sylvan Lake, near Backus. Randy had a great sense of humor, quick wit, and never was one to shy away from telling a joke.
He is survived by his sons, Mike (Kristy) Fabel of St. Louis Park, Nick (Mollie) Fabel of Waconia, and Brad Fabel of St. Cloud; bonus sons, Chris Fischer (Megan Inselman), Jake (Kari) Fischer, and Josh (Kate) Fischer; grandchildren and bonus grandchildren, Malia, Ellie, Amelia, and Aubrey Fabel, Rylie, Aiden, Hank, Waylon, Otis, Frances, Charlie, Loretta, and Betty; mother, Marilyn Sheridan of Plymouth; siblings, Rory (Beth) Fabel of Plymouth, and Rhonda Bradtke of Moundsview; former wives, Georjean Fischer-Fabel and Lauralee Risch; and nieces, nephews, other family members, and dear friends. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Gary Fabel.
Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Kimball.
