Edmund P. “Eddie” Schmitz
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rockville, MN for Edmund P. Schmitz, age 80, who died Thursday, November 18th surrounded by family and friends at Assumption Home in Cold Spring, MN. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
A visitation will be held Monday from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Rockville before mass.
Eddie was born in Cold Spring, MN to Bernard and Cecilia (Doubek) Schmitz. He married Joanne Rosckes June 29, 1963, in Guardian Angels Church, Chaska, MN.
Eddie worked as a Supervisor at Stone Container until retirement in 2004. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends at the cabin in Osakis. He had the biggest heart and would drop everything to lend a helping hand. He was known around town as the man that would help you fix or cut down anything.
Eddie lost his battle with cancer, but he never once complained. He truly lived and loved life to the fullest.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne; children, Sandy Glieden, Judy Neu, Kathy (Troy) Lentner, Jeff (Sherri) Schmitz, Amy (Keith) Simon; 10 grandchildren; siblings, Eileen Walz, Donald (Mary Lou), Alfred (Carol), Leona Jungels, Robert (Mary Ann), LeRoy (JoAnn); sister-in-laws, Dorothy, Lorraine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy Koshiol; son-in-law, Kim Glieden; granddaughter, Kayla Neu; brothers, George, Ervin; sisters, Marie Loso, Louise Dingmann; brother-in-laws, Albin Walz, Daniel Loso, James Dingmann, Norbert Jungels.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Assumption Home, St. Croix Hospice and Coborn Cancer Center for the wonderful care given to Eddie.
