Dorothy C. Peters was born to Nic and Margaret (Ellenbecker) Leither on June 26, 1919, in Richmond, MN. She went to her heavenly home on December 18, 2021. Dorothy waited faithfully and patiently for this day after years of declining health.
Dorothy married Clem Peters on June 10, 1947, in Cold Spring. Clem, a WWII Veteran, died on July 28, 1983.
Dorothy owned and operated the “Eat Shop” a family restaurant and ice cream parlor in Cold Spring as a young single woman during the war years. It was sold after she married. She was an excellent cook and baker, an avid reader and flower gardener. Dorothy enjoyed lunching with friends, playing cards, spending time at the cottage on Big Fish Lake and family activities.
She was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Christian Women, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Dorothy volunteered at St. Boniface Elementary School library for many years.
She is survived by her children, Kathy (Jeff) Cziok, Joan (Bob) Streater, Pat; grandsons Adam (Hollie), Alex (Gabi); great-grandchildren, Cameron, Tucker, Teddy, and Ellie; siblings, Jerry, and Bob (Jean).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clem (1983): son, Don (2008); siblings, Edwin (Flora), Joe (Rose), Luella (Clarence) Gohman, George (Marilyn); and her sister-in-law, Jenny.
Dorothy’s family is grateful for the compassionate care from the CentraCare Hospice team, her “Visiting Angels,” Bethany, Martie and Amanda, the St. Boniface Home Bound Eucharistic ministers (pre-covid). Their greatest appreciation is to her son Pat, whose loving care honored his mom’s wishes to remain at her home until her death.
A visitation and memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring. Masks requested.
Memorials are preferred.
