Herbert Alfred Buermann, age 91

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Herbert A. Buermann, age 91, who died August 18, 2021, at Paynesville Care Center, Paynesville, MN.   Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. the morning of at Sts. Peter & Paul gathering space.

Herb was born in Richmond, MN to John and Elizabeth (Blonigen) Buermann. He was their 11th child out of 13. Herb married Joanne (Conrad) Buermann on August 17, 1954, in St. Boniface Church in Cold Spring, MN. They had three beautiful children, Brendalee, Barbara and Thomas. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2004 just before Joanne passed away on October 15, 2004.

Herb worked at Swift & Company Meat Packing Plants for 30 years. He retired and moved back to Richmond to build his forever home next to his family’s resort on Big Lake. Herb then joined Richmond Bus Services to bring children to school every day. He also enjoyed driving bus for evening events. Herb was known as an exceptional bus driver and the kids all loved him. He was a handy man to anyone who needed help. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, woodworking, giving boat rides to his grandchildren and playing cards; his favorites were Cribbage and Texas Hold’em. For 24 years, during the winter months, Herb enjoyed being a snowbird in Destin, FL and for the last 6 years of his life he resided at Koronis Manor in Paynesville, MN.

He is survived by his children, Brendalee (Paul) Christiansen, Barbara (Steve) Hanson, Thomas Buermann; brother, Joe Buermann; 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joanne; brothers, Edmond, Martin, Norbert, Robert, Roman, John; sisters, Alma Buermann, Rosalia Buermann, Eleanor Bloch, Martha Rothestein and Irma Rothestein.
