Bonnie Friederich Sweet, 80, of Richmond and formerly of New Ulm died peacefully Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the home of her son Jamey (Marilyn) Sweet.
Funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday, June 13, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm with Deacon Rick Christiansen officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New UIm.

Bonna Mae was born February 11, 1939 in Sleepy Eye to Leonard and Roseal Helget. She was united in marriage to Willard Friederich Jr. in 1956 until his death in 1960 and then to Frank Sweet in 1961. While living in New Ulm Bonnie was employed at various businesses including driving a school bus for New Ulm Bus Lines. In the late 80’s Bonnie and Frank moved to Richmond MN, where they built their home on the chain of lakes. Bonnie worked for Catholic Charities and the Cold Spring Senior Center. She loved spending time watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She also enjoyed watching the Vikings, Packers and Twins, feeding the birds, planting and tending her flowers, playing cards and reading Danielle Steel books.
Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Mike) French of New Ulm, Monique Parsell of Lino Lakes; sons, Daniel Sweet of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Jamey (Marilyn) Sweet of Blaine; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Porky (John) Reinarts of New Ulm, Sheri (Arnie) Friederich of New Ulm, Sandi (Bill) West of Johnstown City, Illinois, Cindy (Greg) Portner of New Ulm and Vicky (Lon) Ahlness of Hanska; sisters-in-law, Lisa Helget and Kathy Hempel both of New Ulm; brothers-in-law, Eugene (Marie) Friederich Des Moines, Iowa, David (Sonja) Friederich of New Ulm; many nieces and nephews; and her dog Sammy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Willard “Junker” Friederich Jr. and Marvin “Frank” Sweet; and by her brother Warren Helget.
