Keri Marie Richards Anderson, age 71

Keri Marie Richards Anderson

Cold Spring
November 28, 1961 – July 14, 2019

Keri Marie Richards Anderson was born November 28, 1961, the 5th child of Lowell and Hazel Richards of Buffalo Lake.  Being the baby of the family was a prestigious position that she relished from beginning to end; we all adored Keri.

Keri married Kim Anderson March 29, 1986.  Together they farmed and operated a hog operation in Bandon Township, Section 3, Renville County for 33 years.  Keri lovingly restored their 1920’s farmhouse on the Anderson Century Farm, thus beginning her lifelong passion for decorating projects, planning, and meticulous organization.  Their son, Nicholas Lowell was born February 1, 1991, and Keri became Momma Bear.  Keri loved the farm, but the lake was her Happy Place.  Kim and Keri retired to their lake house (another project!) in January 2018.  There she enjoyed hosting gatherings for family and friends, cruising the lake, and enjoying the view.

Keri thrived on the love of her Tribe: Karen, Donna, and Lori.  Among them, Keri was The Queen, “I know it and I own it”.  You never had to wonder where you stood with Keri, she called it like she saw it, with attitude and wit.  And she continued to call the shots with her Cancer Journey.  Affirmations she recited during her bedtime ritual were: I am a Warrior, I am a Survivor, I am a Tough Cookie.  When told that her cancer had spread she declared: cancer picked the wrong person to mess with.  But cancer didn’t listen and Keri passed away peacefully on July 14, 2019.

Keri leaves behind her adoring husband, Kim Anderson of Cold Spring, her precious son Nick of St. Joseph, her mother, Hazel Richards of Buffalo Lake.  Her brothers: Gary(Carol), Mike(Nancy), Chuck(Natalie) and sister Pat Johnson(Tom).  Keri was cherished by many nieces and grand nieces, nephews and grand nephews.  Keri was preceded In death by her father, Lowell Richards and her nephew,Tyler Richards.

Keri’s family is profoundly grateful for the extraordinary and compassionate care she received in her last days at the St. Cloud Hospital Oncology unit and at St. Benedict’s Therapy Suites.  In lieu of gifts please donate to the Centracare Foundation, memo: Coborns Cancer Center, in memory of Keri Anderson.  1406 Sixth Ave North, St. Cloud, MN 56303-1901.

A gathering for Keri will be held Saturday, August 3 at the Franklin Community Center, Franklin, MN from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
