Diana Joy (Traube) Mample, 80, formerly of St. Cloud, MN passed away August 25th, 2018, in Naples Florida. Diana is survived by her children Nasha Martin of Richmond, MN and Mia Keene of Tennessee, her grandchildren Arisa Ressemann of Richmond, MN. Kolton Ressemann of St. Cloud, MN and her beloved granddaughter Vierna of Richmond, MN. Diana was born in Chicago, IL to Arthur and Albina (Mautinger) Traube in 1938, where she completed grade school, before moving to Sioux Narrows Ontario, Canada in 1951 to complete her high school education, as her father retired from the Chicago police force and moved there to own and operate The Sioux Narrows Lodge which he purchased in 1945, while Diana’s uncles, Frank and Adolf also moved there, and owned and operated The Narrows Limited Gift Shop and The Sioux Narrows Bait Shop respectively.
Diana graduated from the University of Minnesota with an AA degree, married Theodore Merickel in 1960, moved to St. Cloud, MN and raised their two daughters. Diana was a member of the Board for the fundraising to build the local YMCA, a Board Member for the College of St. Benedicts and was instrumental in the May Bowl founding years for the St. Cloud Hospital as a volunteer.
Diana owned The Poppyseed Hallmark Card and Gift Store, at 610 Mall Germain in St. Cloud, and also opened a branch in Little Falls, MN, on Main Street. Diana also owned the Chateau Joy Apartments in Sauk Rapids, MN. Diana was an insulin dependent diabetic since her twenties, and a breast cancer survivor, with a strong tenacity to live. Diana loved the buying trips for her gift stores “The Mustard Seed”, a part of her Hallmark stores. Diana enjoyed dressing for every occasion, was a loyal Vikings football fan, had a passion for shopping and designing rings, hosting dinner parties, and celebrating the holidays with her parents, children and family. Diana (Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma) is sorely missed by her children, grandchildren, great granddaughter and their significant others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Albina (Mautinger) Traube.
