Appolonia “Lonie” Hommerding, age 93

November  7, 1923 – February 27, 2017
	 Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2017 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Appolonia “Lonie” Hommerding, age 93, who died Monday at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta surrounded by her family. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will continue from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., Friday morning at the funeral home.
Lonie  was born in Luxemburg, MN to Christ and Mathilda (Schoen) Schroden.  She married Ervin Hommerding on April 22,  1947 at St. Wendelin Church in Luxemberg, MN.   Lonie and Ervin farmed and raised their children near St. Nicholas until  retirement.  She loved her family,  followed her faith and enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, playing cards,  traveling, fishing and dancing.  Lonie  was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Christian Women and Catholic  United Financial.
   
       Survivors  include her children, Fr. Leroy Hommerding, Joyce (Ken) Bertram, Roger (Teri),  Jan (Mark Eisenschenk), Doris, Linda (Mark) Donnay, Vern (Cathy Schmitt), Laura  (Leonard Jr.) Nordmann; sister, Olga (Sylvester) Kinzer; sisters-in-law,  Florence Schroden, Irene Schlangen, Marion Hommerding; 22 grandchildren and 31  great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin (2006); siblings, Ferdinand Schroden, AnnaMay (Cyril) Voigt, Alex (Olive) Schroden and 2 infants.
The family wishes to thank Assumption Nursing Home and Quiet Oaks Hospice House for their loving care of Lonie.
