Lawrence T. DIngmann, age 80
Richmond
October 15, 1929 – December 29, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Lawrence T. Dingmann, age 80, who died Tuesday surrounded by his family in the Paynesville Area Hospital. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.  Parish Prayers will be a 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Catholic Aid Association, Knights of Columbus and Richmond American Legion.  

Lawrence was born in Farming to the late John Henry and Angela (Koetter) Dingmann. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Holthaus on August 26, 1953 in St. Catherine’s Church, Farming.  After their marriage, the couple moved to Richmond to start their family.  He served in the Korean Conflict from 1954–1956.  Lawrence worked at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in St. Cloud for 33 years and as a bus driver with the Richmond Bus Service for many years before retiring.  He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish where he served as a communion minister and usher for many years, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Aid Association and the Richmond American Legion.  Lawrence enjoyed spending time with family, crossword puzzles, John Deere tractors, driving bus and mowing the lawn. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Betty; children, Marvin (Audrey) of Avon, Patti (Tucker) Plantenberg and Gordon (Bonnie) of Richmond, Mark (Kathy) of Paynesville, Jean Sauer of Cold Spring, Joan (Brian) Linn of Watkins, Rhonda, Loren(Donna) of Richmond; 16 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; siblings, Ambrose (Florence) of Elrosa, Theresa Lieser of Paynesville, Martha Mehr of Albany; sister-in-law, Betty Wittes of St. Cloud; brother-in-law, Roman Theis of St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon; son-in-law, Loran Sauer; brothers, Alphonse, Clemens, Leonard and Gregor; sisters, S. Wahlberga, OSB, S.Angella, OSB, Emma Olmscheid and Barbara Theis. 

Romuald H. Ehresmann, age 88
St. Martin
March 24, 1921 – December 29, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin, MN for Romuald H. Ehresmann, age 88, who died Tuesday at the Assumption Home in Cold Spring. Burial will be in the St. Martin Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the St. Martin Parish Hall.  Parish Prayers will be prayed at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary with the St. Martin’s Lions, St. Joseph and St. Benedict’s Men’s Societies, Catholic Aid Association and the St. Martin Fire Department Friday evening.  Arrangements were entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home, Richmond.

Romuald was born in St. Martin, MN to John and Rose (Schaefer) Ehresmann.  He married Lorraine Wuertz on June 26, 1950 in St. Martin Catholic Church.  He was an owner and operator of Mondloch Inc. in St. Martin until his ‘retirement’!  Romuald enjoyed singing as a member of the St. Martin Choir, directing the band, being St. Nicholas (Santa Claus) and taking his wife fishing.  Romuald was never without a story and a smile.  He also worked as a Funeral Directors Assistant with the Wenner Funeral Home.  He was a member of the St. Martin Parish, St. Joseph’s and St. Benedicts Men’s Societies, Catholic Aid Association, Our Lady of Fatima Mission Group, St. Martin Commercial Club, Farming Sportsman’s Club, past Mayor of St. Martin, and a charter member of the St. Martin Fire Department and St. Martin’s Lions.

Survivors include his children, Joan (Clancy) Olmscheid of St. Martin, Mary (Jerry) Schneider of Cold Spring, Tom (Joelle) Ehresmann of St. Martin and Rosie (Bruce) Osendorf of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Jennifer, Curt, Eric, Tricia, Melissa, Jodi, Dana, Ryan, Nicole, Breanna, Kelsey and Shannon; great-grandchildren, Crystal, Chloe, Logan, Hanna, Aiden, Addison, Amelia and Graci; siblings, Juletta (Joe) Spanier, Catherine Tamble, Jerry (Joan) Ehresmann and Dorothy Dold.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine (March 27, 2009); his parents; brother, Donald; and one grandchild.

Richard N. Thomes, age 82
Richmond
March 27, 1927 – December 29, 2009

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Richard N. Thomes, age 82, who died Tuesday surrounded by his family at home. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Minnesota States Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.

Gathering of relatives and friends will be after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday (TODAY) and from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.  Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Golden Smiles Senior Citizens.  The Richmond American Legion will pray at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Richard was born in Richmond, MN to Henry and Catherine (Utsch) Thomes. He married Rosalie Backes on May 5, 1956 in St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Farming.  Richard served in the United States Army as a MP from 1949–1953 during the Korean War.  He retired in 1992 from Wiman Plastics where he was a machine operator.  Richard was an avid gardener and Minnesota sports fan.  He enjoyed doing anything outdoors; from raking leaves to mowing lawn.  He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish and the Richmond American Legion where he was past commander from1962-1964.

Survivors include his loving wife, Rosalie; children, Rick (Susan), Tim (Janet), Scott (Kelly) , Cindy (Al) Braegelman, and Patrick; grandchildren, Amber, Nick, Katie Thomes, Michelle, Melissa, Jonathan Kurtz, Marie Thomes, Tia and Kendra Braegelman; siblings, Mary (Henry) Mackedanz, Fran (John) Jamison, Norbert (Carol) Thomes; sisters-in-law, Gert Thomes and Lorraine Thomes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ed, Gregor and Joe; sisters, Vern and Helen.

Memorials are preferred to Albany Area Hospice, Kathy & Marie Ebnet Scholarship Fund @ Albany High School or Sts. Peter & Paul Church Building Fund. 

 

Dorothy M. Molitor, age 85
Cold Spring
November 26, 1924 – December 28, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Dorothy M. Molitor, age 85, who died Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  The St. Boniface Christian Women will pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the Wenner Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born in Chokio, MN to Clem and Dora (Adams) Bachel. She married Alphonse M. Molitor on October 14, 1943 in Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, Rockville, MN.  Dorothy liked flowers, riding the golf cart around the farm, her dogs, word puzzles, knick knacks – especially salt and pepper shakers, outdoor lawn ornaments and music.  Visiting with her family and friends, always brought a smile to her face.  She was a member of St. Boniface Parish.

Survivors include her children, Rich (Lucy), Roger, Chuck (Sharon), Darlene Molitor (Glen Vannurden) and Dale (Kimmy); 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alphonse (1996); brothers, Donald, David, Robert and Alvin; sister, Helen Lipinski. 

 

Rita Schlangen, age 80
Cold Spring
May 21, 1929 – December 27, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2010 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Rita Schlangen, age 80, who died Sunday at the Assumption Home surrounded by her family. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Monday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  The St. Boniface Christian Women, Catholic Aid Association, Cold Spring American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries will pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Rita was born in Pearl Lake, MN to Matt and Theresa (Rausch) Decker.  She married Gregor Schlangen on June 10, 1953.  Rita worked many years at the Side Cafe  and also enjoyed sewing, playing cards, bingo, going to the casino, watching baseball on T.V., gardening, and old time music.  She was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Christian Women, Catholic Aid Association, Cold Spring American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries.

Survivors include her children, Josephine (Fred) Klein, Julieann (Steve) Loch, Joyce (Steve) Wuotila, Alvina Slye, Larry, Andrew, Conrad (Roxy Luety), Peter, Clara (Robert) Bruce, Susan (Bob) Svihel, Alice (Scott) Brenny and Marie (John) Gooselaw; 28 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; siblings, Delores Schreifers, Rosie Theis, Genny Schmitz, Barbara Schmitz, Theresa Thomas and twin brother, Richard Decker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregor; son, Mathew; and 7 brothers. 

Catherine Schug, age 105
Rockville
September 9, 1904 – December 17, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2009 at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rockville, MN for Catherine Schug, age 105, who died Thursday at the Assumption Home. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery, Cold Spring.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Monday morning in the Church at Rockville. The Christian Women will pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the Wenner Funeral Home.

Catherine was born in St. Nicholas, MN to John and Anna (Zimmerman) Schreifels. She married John Schug on September 3, 1929 in St. Nicholas Church, St. Nicholas, MN. Catherine and her husband farmed and she enjoyed flowers, quilting and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish and St. Boniface Christian Women.

Survivors include daughter, Patricia Ann (Donald) Danzl; daughter-in-law, Patricia (tAl) Schug; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Aloyius Anton Schug and Melvin Bernard Schug; siblings, Frances Flaschenriem, Mary Reiter, Ben Schreifels, Steve Schreifels, Anton Schreifels, Mathilda Ashfeld, Theresia Reiter, Hildegard Reiter and Henry Schreifels.

Bernadette “Bernie” (Torborg) Schefers, age 94
Richmond
March 26, 1915 – December 12, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Bernadette “Bernie” (Torborg) Schefers, age 94, who died Saturday at the Assumption Nursing Home. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Cemetery, Richmond.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Bernie was born in Mantador, ND to Ernest and Mary (Elenz) Heying. She married Alphonse Torborg on June 26, 1935 in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Richmond, Alphonse died on November 4, 1979. Bernie married Sylvester Schefers on May 30, 1981 and he died May 29, 2002. She moved to Minnesota when she was 4 years old. At the age of 16 she worked in the Twin Cities. She later worked as a waitress at the Corner Club and Wenner Hardware Store in Richmond. Bernie’s hobbies included embroidery, quilting, playing cards, setting puzzles and visiting. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Bernie was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Christian Women, Catholic Aid Association and Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include her children, Ron (Mary) of Anaheim, CA, Jack (Doris) of St. Cloud; step-children, Toney (Theresa) Peine of Mount Pleasant, TX, Arlene Schefers of Hawick; 13 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 9 step-great grandchildren; 1 step-great-great-grandchild; sister, Irma Huczck of IL, Gen Linhoff of CA, Dolores “Babe” Schloeder of MN; brothers, Elmer of IA, Paul of MI, and Ernie of NE.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; son, Frederick (2-12-62); sister, Mary Ann Geers; brothers, Sylvester, Ambrose, Leander, Jerome and Gilbert.

Erma A. Denn, age 81
Cold Spring
July 29, 1928 – December 11, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Ermaline Alvina Denn, age 81, who died at her home on Friday. Entombment will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring and from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Monday morning in the Narthex of St. Boniface Church. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Christian Women and Catholic Aid Association on Sunday afternoon.

Erma was born in Luxemburg Township, MN to Edward and Catherine (Rausch) Rossman. She married Donald C. Denn on September 22, 1949 in St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. Erma worked at WACOSA for 25 years. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, volunteering at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud and her “coffee” friends. Erma was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be greatly missed. She was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Christian Women and Catholic Aid Association.

Survivors include her children, Jodi (Mal) Reiter of St. Cloud, Bonnie (Larry) Jones of Reelsville, IN, Debra (Daniel) Schroeder of Cold Spring, Dayna (Paul) Dreis of Mazomanie, WI, and Charles (Michelle Bieniek) Denn of South Haven; grandchildren, Emma, Charles, and Joseph Dreis, Colton and Victoria Denn; sisters, Marie (+Irwin) Hennen of Morton, Lucille (+Louis) Nies of Coon Rapids, Isabel (Joseph) Krippner of Marty, and Helen (John) Pollard of Mount Vernon, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don (August 14, 2008); parents; siblings, Gilbert (Sally Steil), Bernadine (+Herbert) Hennen, Edwin (+Marie Hommerding), Vernon (Donna Meierhofer), Kathleen (Marvin) Neu and Jeanette (+John) Apman.

Allyn Davidshofer, age 89
Cold Spring
December 18, 1919 – November 30, 2009

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring, MN for Allyn Davidshofer, age 89, who died Monday at the Assumption Nursing Home. Burial will be in the Minnesota States Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday at Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.

Allyn married Anita Passe 68 years ago. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Allyn operated Mossy Bay Resort in Richmond for 12 years, drove bus, and enjoyed playing cards with friends, gardening, fishing, sports, woodworking, and reading. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish and the Cold Spring American Legion Post #455.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Anita; son, Dave; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and 1 sister.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Gary and Joseph.

Annie M. Walz, Age 90
Rockville
May 10, 1919 - November 27, 2009

 

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Annie M. Walz, age 90, of Rockville will be at 1 pm on Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rockville, MN. Annie died on Friday, Nov 27, 2009 at the Assumption Home in Cold Spring. Her son Rev. Richard R. Walz will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Family and friends may call between 5-9 pm on Sunday and after 12 Noon on Monday at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rockville, MN. The Christian Women will pray the rosary at 6:30 pm on Sunday at the church followed by the parish prayers at 7 pm. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.

Annie was born on May 10, 1919 in St. Augusta Township, Stearns County, MN to John P. and Barbara (Schreifels) Kramer. She married Edmund A. Walz on May 7, 1947 in St. Joseph, MN. She loved spending time with family, flowers, crocheting, crafts and garage sales. She will be remembered as a woman of prayer and strong faith.

Survivors include her children: Frederick (Kathleen) of South Haven, Father Richard of Long Prairie, Mathew (Barbara) of Cold Spring, Margaret “Marge” (Dale) Hutchinson of Denver, CO, Paul (Helen), Peter, Benedict, Raphael (Jean) and Charles (Cynthia) all of Rockville, Harold (Pam) of Cold Spring and John of Kimball; 41 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edmund in 1990, brother Alphonse Kramer in 2004 and one great grandchild.
Memorials are preferred.

Bertha was born in Munson Township, MN to Henry and Margaret (Koetter) Willenbring. She married Joseph B. Lucken on October 30, 1928 in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Richmond. Bertha enjoyed visiting with her family and knitting. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish and Christian Women.

Survivors include her children, Leo (Bertha A.), John (Virginia), Clara Knettle, Lloyd (Frances), Alois (Florence), Louise (Joseph Schwinghammer), Bertha (Michael Stodola), Jane Nesbitt, Valerie Taylor; 37 grandchildren, multiple great and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Irmund and Lawrence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; children, Marilyn, JoAnne Bauer, Margie, Henry, Bernard, Patricia and Frances; nine brothers and sisters

Clara M. Huberty, age 93
Watkins
February 2, 1916 - November 14, 2009

Clara M. Huberty, 93 of Watkins, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins.? Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. Interment will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Rev. John Brunner, Rev. Tony Hesse and Rev. Ron Huberty will officiate. Music will be provided by Kathy Pauls. Casket bearers will be Tim Huberty, Dan Huberty, Casey Huberty, Greg Huberty, Andy Nephew, Lauren Nephew and Beth Huberty. Arrangements are with the Ertl Funeral Home, Watkins.

Clara Huberty was born on February 2, 1916 at Cold Spring to Theodore and Ottilia (Krier) Schreifels. She married Martin M. Huberty on June 28, 1939 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. They resided at Watkins where Clara was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and was active with the Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Watkins Senior Citizens. Clara enjoyed golfing, reading and playing cards. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Clara is survived by her children and their spouses, Elaine and John Quast of Richfield, Mike and Mary Huberty of Eden Valley, Jim and Mary Huberty of Brooklyn Park, Jane and Tim Nephew of Moorhead; 7 grandchildren, sisters, Barbara Nistler of Watkins, Marie Roeser of Watkins, Rita Ludwig of Cold Spring. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin in 2006; children David and Diane; brothers, Fr. Ferdinand, OSB, and Theodore; sisters, Mathilda Huberty, Theresa Menke, Rose Kraemer and Marcella Schreifels.

Tharsilla “Thar” Gertken, age 80
Richmond
April 7, 1929 – November 11, 2009

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Tharsilla “Thar” Gertken, age 80, who died Wednesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Cemetery, Richmond.

Relatives and friends may call from 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning in the Parish Center (across from the church). Arrangements were entrusted to the Wenner Funeral Home, Richmond.

Thar was born in Richmond, MN to Herman and Theresia (Behnen) Torborg. She married Melvin Gertken on July 8, 1953, in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Richmond. Thar loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who volunteered many hours wherever needed in her community, school, and church. Thar liked to play cards and read. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Catholic Aid Association, Richmond Legion Auxiliary, St. Ann’s Mission Group and the Christian Women.

Survivors include her children, Robert “Bob” (Sue) of St. Cloud, Eileen (Rick) Buerman of Maple Grove, and Margaret (Scott) Munter of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Isaac and Johnna Gertken, Kristen and Dan Buerman and Rachel and Ryan Munter; sisters, Leona Schleper and Theresa Mendiola and brother, Jerry Torborg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin (1993); son, John (1974); 2 brothers, Val and Robert Torborg and sister, Maryanne Braegelmann.

Kathleen "Kay" Walz, age 81
Sauk Centre, MN
March 8, 1928 - November 8, 2009

Kathleen “Kay” Walz, age 81 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully Sunday, November 8, 2009 surrounded by her family at St. Michael’s Hospital in Sauk Centre.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 11 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Julius Beckermann, OSB and Rev. Sylvester Kleinschmidt will concelebrate with interment following in St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery in Padua.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday followed by Christian Mothers rosary at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Kay Rooney was born March 8, 1928 in Raymond Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Francis and Josephine (Jasken) Rooney. On August 11, 1947 she married Virgil Walz at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Padua. The couple began farming in North Fork Township, Stearns County in 1950 and they were members of the St. Anthony of Padua Parish, where she was active in Christian Mothers and taught catechism. She retired in 1985 and moved to Sauk Centre in 1990. She managed the BBE Foodshelf in Brooten and also was a driver for Stearns County Social Services for many years. Since August she had resided at St. Michael’s Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.

Kay was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, playing Upwords, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Roger Walz of Brooten, Cheryl (Ron) Wagner of Hutchinson, Marilyn Edman of New London, Gail (Scott Kramer) Eibensteiner of Melrose, Barb (Dennis) Gregory of Richmond, Virginia “Ginny” (Marvin) Borgerding of Brooten, Mark (Tammy) Walz of Sauk Centre, Michille (Leon VanderEsch) Braegelmann of Cold Spring and Alan (Milissa) Walz of Holdingford; 35 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Joan Domke of St. Paul, Fran (George) Zilliox, Gerald (Georgia) Rooney, all of Belgrade, Norene Miller of St. Cloud, Phil (Jeannie) Rooney of Burnsville, Sharon (David) Beseke of Brooten, David (Karen) Rooney of Woodbury, Dan (Jude) Rooney of Prescott, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil Walz on May 1, 1988; daughter, Arlene Walz on October 28, 2004; sister, Pat Kelley; brothers, Richard Rooney and infant John.

Serving as casket bearers will be Craig Walz, Erica Van Beck, Anthony Wagner, Shawn Edman, Nick Eibensteiner, Brent Gregory, Adam Borgerding, and Mike Walz. Amy was born in Richmond, MN to James Goerger and Jan (Meyer) Schneider. Amy was the finance director for the City of Rockville and enjoyed its’ many challenges. She was well known for enjoying frequent road trips in her car and also frequent trips to Starbucks. Amy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her niece and nephew.

Del was born August 17 , 1931 in Cold Spring, MN to Al and Toots Steichen. She was a graduate of St. Boniface HS, St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing and the U of M. She married Kerwyn "Mike" Hillier on May 29, 19?? . She and Mike raised three children, Kevin, Roni and Maureen. Their family also included three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Del worked as a Public Health nurse, hospital nurse, supervisor and nursing instructor.
She is survived by her children, Kevin and Maureen; grandchildren, Sean, Chantel, Heidi; great granddaughters, Alana, Mia; great grandsons, Ashton, Kaleb; sisters Ramona (Dick) Cole, Yvonne (Floyd) Simmons, Jeanette Taufen; sisters-in-law, Carol Leismeister, Pam Hofland; brother-in-law, Robert (Jan) Hillier; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ralph was born in Farming Township, MN to Ernest and Edna (Kutz) Sager. He married Lorraine Lemke on January 21, 1949 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Farming. Ralph farmed in his younger days, worked for the Cold Spring Brewing Company for 23 years and then worked in the Maintenance Department for the City of Cold Spring for 16 years retiring in 1987. Ralph loved spending time with his family. Ralph enjoyed woodworking, music, hunting, fishing and reading. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Choir and the Square Dancing Club.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Lorraine; children, Sharon O’Geay of Cold Spring, Luanne (Roger) Sager-Westerberg of Nimrod and Gary (Caea) of Minnetonka; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda Kremers.

Mike served in the United States Army from 1953 – 1955 and graduated from St. John’s University in 1957. He owned and operated Plantenberg’s Market. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, spending time with his family, serving the community and church and was an avid reader. Mike led a giving, humble life of serving and generosity to others.

He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, and Richmond American Legion.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Marlene; children, Tucker (Patti), Lynn, Susan (Chris) Satterlund, Lisa (Mark) Eiden and Maria; sisters, Judy Martinson and Ruth Taylor; grandchildren, Kendra and Kyle Plantenberg, Jacob and Jon Eiden, and Karl Satterlund.

Adeline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was at home until her youngest child went to school; then she took a job as a cook at St. Boniface Elementary School. Adeline enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking and baking, playing cards and she loved to dance and listen to music. She was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Christian Women and an Assumption Nursing Home resident in Cold Spring for 4 years and 8 months.

Al attended Deforest School of Electronics in Illinois graduating in 1946, received his Master Electrician License in 1957 and was a RCA Electronics Independent Dealer for many years. He was a private pilot for years, attended Master Gardener School, and was an avid bird watcher. In his younger years, Al was a 4-H winner, receiving the Reserve Grand Champion Award. Al was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Richmond Civic and Commerce.

Regina was born in St. Nicholas, MN to John A. and Anna (Goike) Theis. She married Leander J. Meyer on March 2, 1943 in St. Nicholas Church, St. Nicholas, MN. Regina was a homemaker and a woman of many talents who enjoyed quilting and visiting with family and friends. She took pride in all of her volunteering. Regina and her ‘famous’ homemade breads, cinnamon rolls and knack to visit with anyone, will be greatly missed. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, St. Catherine’s Society and the Christian Women.

Edward H. Schmitz, age 87
St. Cloud

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Edward H. Schmitz, age 87, of St. Cloud who passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at his home. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Private entombment will take place in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery Mausoleum in Cold Spring at a later date.

Edward was born in Jacobs Prairie, MN to Valentine and Christina (Mueller) Schmitz. He married Irene Barthel in January 1946 at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Edward was employed by the St. Cloud Window Company for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He and Irene raised their family in St. Cloud, then Waite Park, and retired in Cold Spring. Irene died in March 1988 and Edward moved to St. Cloud years later. Edward loved spending time with his family and friends, watching Twins baseball, and enjoying a good game of cards or dice. In his earlier years, Edward was an active bowler, fisherman, golfer, and dancer. He is loved by many for his fun sense of humor and kind spirit. Edward is a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, St. Cloud.

He is survived by his children, Wayne of Waite Park, Peggy (Peter) Wilson of Kimball, Karen (Tom) O’Keefe of St. Cloud, and Jane of Chanhassen, MN; close friend Virginia Jacobs of St. Cloud; sisters Adeline Zimmerman of Milwaukee and Martha Warnert of St. Paul; two grandchildren Austin O’Keefe and Kim Paulus, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, sisters Alvina Kraemer and Celina Kraemer, and brother Raymond.

Ken was born in Bemidji, MN to Erhart and Leona (Hieserich) Ebeling. He married Adah Enzi on September 5, 1964 in Braddock, North Dakota. Ken got his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND, and his PhD. at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. He taught Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing at North Dakota State University in Fargo about 38 years. He ran a summer program for high ability high school students for many years. He was also instrumental in developing the Engineering PhD. Program at N.D.S.U. He was very active in both the 3rd degree and 4th degree Knights of Columbus in Minnesota and North Dakota. Ken did extensive work on genealogy and put together books on the Hieserichs, Schneiders, Ebelings and Mandigos. He enjoyed working with computers. Ken enjoyed the go cart he won on The Price is Right in 2007, his new jet ski, telling tall tales, playing jokes on family and friends, playing pinochle and trips for model T parts with neighbors. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Assumption Council #5344, and Father Pierz Assembly of St. Cloud Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his loving wife, Adah; sons, Tim (Valerie Becker) Ebeling and Tom (Maribel Real) Ebeling; grandchildren, Pablo, Matthew, Gabriella, Ashley, Marco and Lucas; mother, Leona and many cousins.

Corey was born in Minneapolis, MN to Glenn and Karen (Rausch) Berkman. He worked for Peter’s Body Shop as an auto body technician and he also worked at All Care Towing. Corey enjoyed playing softball, pool and throwing darts with his friends. He collected and repaired old vehicles and motorcycles and did some custom painting. He was a member of the Patriot Riders and the St. Cloud Eagles Aeire #622.

Survivors include his parents, Glenn and Karen of Richmond; grandparents, Ken and Laura Rausch and Doris Berkman and many friends and family.

Honer, 75 of St. Cloud who passed away on Friday, August 14, 2009 at the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Burial will be at St. Wendelin’s Parish Cemetery, Luxemburg.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Peter was born on February 8, 1934 in Cold Spring, Minnesota to Donald and Ann (Arnold) Honer. He graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1952. Peter served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 until 1955. He married Darlene “Pat” Ergen on November 28, 1958 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. Peter has been a chemical dependency counselor in the St. Cloud area since 1968. Peter was one of the founders of the Recovery Plus Aftercare Program at the St. Cloud Hospital and was actively counseling clients until June of 2009. He received the Counselor of the Year Award from the Governor of the State of Minnesota. Peter was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish, Nocturnal Adoration Society, AA (Alcoholic Anonymous) and in recovery since May 12, 1963; a member and served on the Board of Directors of MACA (Minnesota Alcoholism Counselors Association).

Peter enjoyed hunting, fishing, gambling and hamburgers at the ballpark.

Clifford was born to the late Clement and Josie (Rickenberg) Bakeman in Erhard, MN. He married Alice DuRose on March 1, 1947. Clifford was a meat cutter for 20 years until he retired in 1988. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, slot car racing, his cats, stuffed animals, his knife collection and he was an avid car enthusiast.

Clifford is survived by his wife, Alice; children, James (Linnea) of Cold Spring, Joy Childrey of Kerman, CA, Jerrold (Ruth) of St. Cloud, Jeffrey (Susan) of Clovis, CA and June (Felix) Torres of Fresno, CA; 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Jerry was born in Golden Valley, MN to Anthony and Harriette (Arceneau) Franzen. He married Laurene Johnson on June 25, 1960 in Good Shepherd Church, Golden Valley, MN. Jerry loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and relaxing at the lake.

Emil was drafted into the U.S. Marines in 1944, served in Okinawa, Japan, and in China before he was discharged in June 1946. He was employed by St. Cloud Floral, REX Granite, the Alaskan Pipeline, International Harvester, and was owner and operator of “Smitty’s” in Cold Spring until his retirement in September 1975. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, motorcycling, playing 500 and Shoot the Moon. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish and the American Legion Post #455 in Cold Spring.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ermilda; son, Jerry (Kathy) Schmitt their son, Jeffrey; daughter, Mary (Tom) Kern and their children, Jody, Jesse, Joshua; 9 great-grandchildren.

Lawrence had a ‘gift of gab’ and will be missed by those who knew him. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish and Knights of Columbus.

Louise Linn, age 93

Louise Linn, 93 of Watkins, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009 at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in St. Nicholas. Rev. Thomas Olson and Monsignor Daniel Taufen officiated. Music was by Jolene Faber-Andrusick. Casket bearers were Louises six sons, Ralph, Clarence, Richard, Loren, Roger and Gary Linn. Arrangements were by the Ertl Funeral Home, Watkins.

Louise Linn was born on June 15, 1916 in Cold Spring, Minnesota to Michael and Margaret ( Keil) Hommerding. She grew up on a farm by Cold Spring with 5 sisters and 2 brothers. She attended school through the 8th grade. On August 30, 1938, Louise was united in marriage to Ervin Linn. They farmed by Goodner Lake for many years and raised 9 children. Louise was a member of the St. Nicholas parish and she loved to pray the rosary. Her hobbies included playing cards, tatting, embroidery, listening to old time music, watching TV, baking, cooking and visits from family and friends. Louise also enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, especially when they were little new born babies.

Betty was born in Marty, MN to Aloys and Leona (Ficker) Merten. She worked at Vision Ease for many years and retired in 1996 from the Cold Spring Granite Company. Betty loved life, snowmobiling, happy hour and softball. As a softball player, she was an ‘on target pitcher’, a mentor to anyone she played with or against, and an umpire. Betty was an avid Minnesota Twin’s fan, and she loved spending time with family and friends. Her nieces and nephews were her pride and joy! She was a member of Holy Cross Parish.

Rosalie Bahr, age 63

A visitation for Rosalie Bahr, age 63, of Richmond will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Rosalie died Friday at her home with her five daughters at her side, after a year long battle with cancer.

Rosalie was born in New York Mills, MN to August and Nellie (Kallio) Nevonen. She married Dean Bahr in 1966. Together Rosalie and Dean were blessed with five daughters.

Survivors include her children, Debra (Lee) Bahr-Helgen of St. Paul, Denise (Brady) Krupke of Paynesville, Michelle (Greg) Bahr-Drontle of Cold Spring, Lisa (Russ Pregler) Bahr of Kimball, and Julie (Sean) Warnberg of Cold Spring; ex-husband, Dean of Paynesville; siblings, Dr. Marvin Nevonen of Duluth, Louise (Bill) Carter of WA, and Elizabeth Keskitalo of CO; grandchildren, Evan and Luke Helgen, Kayla and Tiffany Krupke, Olivia and Noah Drontle, and Tyler and Gavin Warnberg; many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Inez Othelia Monson, age 96
Cold Spring
February 22, 1913 – August 13, 2009

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2009 at Peace Lutheran Church in Cold Spring, MN for Inez O. Monson, age 96, who died Thursday at the Assumption Nursing Home, Cold Spring. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2009 in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.

Visitation will be from 9:00–11:00 a.m. in the church prior to the service Monday morning. Arrangements were entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring.

Inez was born in Minneapolis, MN to Peter and Indiana (Rodhammer) Pryts. She grew up in Seward Neighborhood of Minneapolis with four brothers and three sisters. She graduated from South High in 1932. Inez spent many years working at a photography studio. She married Albert Monson on November 12, 1948 at Bethany Lutheran Church. Inez loved music and sang in her church choir and with the Sweet Adelines. Following Albert’s retirement the couple moved to their lake home near Richmond. Inez enjoyed painting, rosemaling, gardening, sewing, crossword puzzles, picnics, boat rides with friends and family on the pontoon and traveling, including yearly trips to Hawaii. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Cold Spring.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Eloise and Jerry Westby of Cold Spring; two granddaughters, Kari Westby of Saint Paul and Tami Westby of Richmond; brother-in-law, Leonard Monson; sister-in-law, Eleanore Calvelage; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert (1999); parents and her 7 siblings.

Memorials are preferred to the Peace Lutheran Church.

She was a homemaker all her life. Erma enjoyed reading, playing cards and quilting. She was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Christian Women, St. Julian’s Mission Group, and St. John’s Mission Circle.

Peter was born in St. Cloud, MN to Vincent and Veronica (Miller) Gottwald. He married Jane (Hiemenz) Springer on April 26, 2009 in St. Boniface Church, Cold Spring. Peter enjoyed spending time with his family. He worked for Gold’n Plump Poultry as a night-time Live Haul Supervisor. Peter loved to ‘tinker’ in his shop! He was a member of St. Boniface Parish and was proud to be on the 1st Responder Team at work.

Jim was born in Baldwin Township, St. Croix County, WI to Lloyd and Eleanor (Moll) Johnson. He married Patricia Shirley Poslusny on November 8, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN. Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, and going ‘up north’ with friends. Jim, along with his wife Patricia, owned and ran Twilight Acres Resort on Big Lake in Richmond, MN. He was a member of Richmond Rod and Gun Club and Big Lake Aquatic Association. Jim was known by all for his generosity, sense of humor and infectious laugh!

Martinson who was born on July 19, 1930 in Madelia, MN to Norvin and Delvina (Meyers) Martinson and died on July 31, 2009 at Sterling Park Nursing Home, Waite Park, MN. Private inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery; Morris, MN later that day.

Visitation with family will be from 8:30 to 10:30 AM at the church prior to mass. Arrangements were entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring, MN.

Preceded in death by his daughter, Susan; granddaughter, Megan; and parents. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; daughter, Nancy DesMarais; sons, Steven (Patricia), Thomas (LeeAnn), Tim (Susan), James (Linda), William (Tonya), Robert Jr. (Aileen), and Isaac; nineteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; brother, Darwin (Barb) and sister, Sharon (Merle) Johnson.

Robert was a Master Sgt. in the Army prior to getting his degree from General Beadle College at Madison, SD. From 1964 to 1985, Bob was a teacher, coach, athletic director, and administrator at Cold Spring, MN in the St. Boniface and Rocori school systems. From 1985 until retirement, Bob was an adjuster for North Central Crop Insurance. Bob is a member of the Rocori High School Hall of Fame. Bob was a member of the American Legion in Cold Spring and St. Boniface Parish.

Ray was born in Richmond, MN to Peter and Mary (Braegelmann) Rothstein. He married Gladys Erickson on October 13, 1983 in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Cold Spring. Ray served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was an auto mechanic for Raymond Trucking in Minneapolis for many years and 8-10 years at the Cold Spring Brewery. Ray was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, woodworking, and was a very ‘sharp’ dresser. Ray and Gladys always looked forward to their winters in Arizona. He was a member of Gloria Dei Church and the Catholic Aid Association.

Survivors include his loving wife, Gladys; daughter, Mina Powers of Mexico; grandsons, Adam, Andy, Rob, and James; daughter-in-law, Lois; many nieces and nephews.

Raymond J. Schmitz, age 82
St. Joseph
September 14, 1926 - July 23, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Raymond J. Schmitz, age 82, of St. Joseph who passed away peacefully Thursday, July 23, 2009 at his home. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery with full military honors. Fr. Joseph Feders, OSB, will officiate.

Raymond was born September 14, 1926, in Jacobs Prairie, Stearns County, Minnesota, to Frank and Walburga (Schramel) Schmitz. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Mannheim, Germany.

He married Rita M. Theis on August 21, 1957, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Farming, Minnesota. He farmed in the St. Joseph area for 49 years and was employed at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud for 32 years as a nursing assistant until his retirement in 1985.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 328 of St. Joseph and the Catholic Order of Foresters, Cold Spring.

Survivors include daughters and sons Martha of St. Joseph, Marvin (Kim) of St. Joseph, Marlene of St. Joseph, Marcia (Ernest) Malisheske of St. Joseph, Mary (Ken) Panek of Avon, Mark (Lisa) Schmitz of St. Joseph, and Myra (Wayne) Hansen of St. Cloud; seven grandchildren: Melissa Schmitz, Daniel Rose, Paul Schmitz, Meggin Schmitz, Michael Schmitz, MaKalla Schmitz, and Anna Panek; and sisters Ester (Martin) Schmitz of Brooten and Rosemary Schroden of St. Joseph.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Walburga, wife Rita (1996), brothers Paul, Wendelin and Alexander, and sisters Bernadette Schmitz and Coletta Janssen.

Jerome “Jerry” Chesney, age 80

Jerome “Jerry” Chesney died Saturday December 20, 2008 at Arlington Place in St. Joseph. Jerry was born in Minneapolis to Raymond and Eunice (Helwick) Chesney. He married Mildred Guddal on July 16, 1948 in Minneapolis.

Jerry worked for Stearns Electrical Association for 44 years until his retirement in 1990. He was member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Richmond Rod and Gun Club and the Paynesville Lutheran Church. Arrangements entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Millie; son, David (Vicki) of Hancock, MI; grandchildren, Mitchell of Beverly Hills, CA and Alexandra of Ithaca, NY; sisters, Jackie Niznik of Columbia Heights and Sandra (Frank) Wallentine, of St. Louis Park.

She worked at Fingerhut and Animal Fair and she also babysat. Eileen retired from Cold Spring Granite Company Foundry in 2003, where she worked as a highlighter for 30 years. Her hobbies included softball, gambling and bowling. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, friend and relatives.

Adella was born in Lake Henry, MN to Joseph and Mary (Kortenbusch) Wuertz. She married Oswald Spanier on May 25, 1948 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry. They lived in Herman, MN for 13 years. They then farmed near Farming for 40 years where they raised their 5 children. Adella resided in Cold Spring for the last 9 years. She had been a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church where she served on the Liturgy Committee and belonged to the Christian Women and St. Joseph Mission Circle. She enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, bingo, casino trips and watching the Minnesota Twins. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

William “Bill” Stanis

William “Bill” Stanis of Culver City , CA passed away at home on June 15, 2009. Bill is survived by his wife Rebecca, sons William Jr. and Eric, grandchildren Samantha and Dean, brother David and his nephew David Jr. and his pet cats and dogs.

Bill spent many summers with his late wife Verna Stanis at their cabin on Browns Lake . Bill proudly served on the Los Angeles City Fire Department for 37 years. His retirement in 2003 allowed him to spend more time at the cabin that he loved. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, and friend and he will be miss by all.

Marie and Ray farmed together in Farming until 1984 and retired to Richmond. She was known for her love of quilting, and liked working outside and doing embroidery work. Marie enjoyed her grandchildren along with her great-grandchildren. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish.

Paul was born in Balta, ND to Rochus and Anges (Schaan) Eisenzimmer. He married Ruth Torborg on September 6, 1948 in St. Joseph Church, Waite Park. He attended and graduated from St. Boniface High School and St. John’s University in 1949. Paul served two years in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He worked for 23 years at the Cold Spring Brewery, and then was the proud owner of the Middle Bar in Cold Spring from 1972 – 1980. Paul enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, playing cards and was an avid Minnesota sports’ fan! He was a member of St. Boniface Parish and the Cold Spring American VFW and Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children, Paula (Pat) Knettel of Aberdeen, SD, Tom of Cold Spring and Lori (Eric) Skare of Lakeville; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ralph Blake, Rose Alexander, Doris Reitmeier, Clare “Dolly” Scott, Edward Eisenzimmer, Jerome “Bud” Eisenzimmer and Sally Weber.

Violet was born in Stearns County, MN to Joseph and Christine (Fauskee) Lee. Violet lived the past 23 years in the Mother Theresa Home, part of Catholic Charities living in Cold Spring. She worked for 22 years at Wacosa, St. Cloud and the last 6 months she worked at the Independent Center, Waite Park. Violet looked forward to visits with her brother and other family members. Walks with Al were the highlight of her days. You could find Violet doing puzzles, sewing, sipping her favorite drink - “Root beer”, joking or teasing anyone in sight, or sitting outside. She also enjoyed traveling and camping.

Survivors include her brother, Al; sister-in-law, Bev Lee; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was born January 11, 1923 in Cold Spring to Paul & Clara (Heisler) Theisen. She attended St. Cloud Vo-Tech for sales & management. She married Donald Chaika in September of 1945 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. The couple lived all their married life in St. Cloud. She worked as a bookkeeper for Electric Motor Company, Meyers Transfer, the Typewriter Shop, Marco Business Products and finally at Flow Bob in St. Stephen. She was also a co owner of Donloc Kennels in St. Cloud. She is a member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud, and was a member of Granite City Kennel Club. She loved gardening, fishing and roller skating with family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Darling of St. Joseph; sister, Evie Gross of St. Cloud; grandson, Scott Light of St. Cloud; great grandchildren, Marissa Johnson of Royalton, and Dallas Light of St. Cloud. She is also survived by her loving german shepherd Paco who currently resides in Wisconsin.

She is preceded in death by her father Paul Theisen, mother, Clara Theisen-Stommes, husband Donald on January 8, 1974, sons, Dane on July 26, 1969, William on June 26, 1999, and brothers, Lee, Raymond, Arnold, Harold, and Sylvester.

Dorothy was born in Minneapolis, MN to Enos and Goldie (Wilde) Phippen. She married Robert LuVerne Anderson. Dorothy enjoyed her “scooter” walks, bird watching, listening to Irish music, and will be missed by her family and her kitty, Koko.

Bernadine loved spending time with her family. She farmed along side her husband for 43 years near Kimball and was a homemaker. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan, and enjoyed playing cards, bingo, baking, sewing and quilting. She was a member of Holy Cross Parish and the Christian Women.

Victor was born in St. Nicholas, MN to Nicholas and Margaret (Boeckmann) Stommes. At the age of 18, he ran the family farm after his father died in 1940 until 1947. Victor worked out west for a number of years and moved back to the mid-west settling in Milwaukee, WI. He was a sub-contractor installing doors and windows. One of his passions was reading and learning about economics, as well as investing. He was an avid reader of the Wall Street Journal until recently. Victor retired on a small farm in Thorp, WI. In the late 1990’s, his nephew Richard Stommes (son of William and Laura Stommes) became his personal guardian.

Survivors include his seven siblings, William (Laura) of St. Joseph, Lorraine Spoden of Paynesville, Armella Malikowski of St. Cloud, Marie Stommes of St. Paul, Rosina (Donald) Ruprecht of Cold Spring, Evelyn (Dick) Otremba of St. Cloud and Rita (Rich) Feddema of Richfield; 63 nieces and nephews.

He farmed the original Steichen homestead his entire life, and enjoyed over the road trucking in his later years. He was a loving husband and devoted father.

He was a farmer and enjoyed woodworking, driving his John Deere tractors, cheering for the Farming Flames baseball team, and spending time with his 22 grandchildren. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Parish, Albany American Legion and St. Joseph Society.

Gertrude V. Schutz was born April 11, 1916 on a farm near Richmond to Jacob & Mary (Braegelmann) Kron. She married Andrew Schutz on May 30, 1949 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. Gertrude and Andrew farmed for 29 years, and then moved to Eden Valley where they were employed by Assumption Parish doing janitorial work for 17 years. Gertrude moved to Benedict Homes in St. Cloud in 2005 and then to St. Benedict's Center in 2008. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Assumption Christian Women Society, Eden Valley Senior Citizens, Mother Teresa Mission Group, and St. Joseph & St. Mary's Catholic Aid Council. Gertrude enjoyed quilting, sewing, growing flowers, and hosting family gatherings.

Survivors include her daughters and sons, Laura (Ed) Hill of Cambridge, Ruth Schutz of St. Cloud, Jerry (Deb) Schutz of Richmond, David (Margie) Schutz of Paynesville, and Jane Brookstein of Washington, DC; brother, Eugene Kron of Richmond; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Cyrilla was born in Albany, MN to Joseph and Gertrude (Fuerstenberg) Wedel. She married Albert Kammermeier on April 26, 1927. Cyrilla was a homemaker all her life. In the late 1960’s, she was instrumental in setting up group homes throughout Stearns County. She was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Christian Women, St. John’s and St. Julian’s Mission Groups.

Survivors include her loving children, Wallace of Minneapolis, Lila Bernick of St. Cloud, Cyril of WV and Mary Lee Kammermeier of St. Luke’s Group Home in Cold Spring; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He spent his retirement years in his shop; inventing and tinkering with just about anything he could get his hands on! He was a member of St. Agnes Parish and St. Joseph’s Society.

Jack was born in Tyndall, SD to John J. and Barbara (Oliva) Taplett. He married Grace Deklotz on August 5, 1946 in Tyndall, SD. Jack served in the United States Navy during WWII from April 7, 1942 to November 25, 1945. He worked at Cold Spring Granite Company as manager of the Mausoleum Division. He retired on October 31, 1977. Jack loved golfing, baseball, bowling and traveling with his wife, Grace. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Knights of Columbus, Cold Spring American Legion and Rich Spring Golf Club.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Grace; nephews and nieces.

Jim was born in St. Cloud, MN to Herman and Freda (Diger) Totz. He married Diann Ehresmann in 1999, in Richmond. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for the Cold Spring Granite Company for 28 years. Jim enjoyed camping on the Mississippi River with his brothers and he loved his Argo.

Survivors include his mother, Freda; siblings, Patty Boe, Herman Jr., Marvin, Jean Ruprecht, Carol Stodolka, Bill, Richard, David, John, Mary Williams and Suzy Tschida; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Jim served in the Army Reserves for six years. He worked for Smurfit-Stone Container in St. Cloud for 43 years retiring in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, watching his kids and grandkids play sports. Jim was an avid amateur baseball fan~ having played for and watched the Roscoe Rangers for many years. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jeanie; son, Dan (Carol) Weber of Cold Spring, daughter, Mary (Randy) Rothstein and grandchildren, Trent and Jill of Richmond; sister, Jeanie (Charlie) Mackedanz of Paynesville; nephews, Rick, Dale and Brian.

Kenneth “Kenny” Cater, age 91
Cold Spring
May 27, 1917 – April 17, 2009

A Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in St. Cloud, MN for Kenneth “Kenny” Cater, age 91, who died Friday at the VA Medical Center. A private family burial will be at 11:30 a.m. in the North Star Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. There will be a prayer service at 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Ken was born in St. Cloud, MN to Charles and Margaret (Hawkins) Cater. He married Virginia (Jinny) Michaelson on April 18, 1947 at Peabody Avenue Methodist Church, Memphis, TN. Ken played for the All City Marching Band, Directed by G. Oliver Riggs. He graduated from St. Cloud Tech H.S. in 1935 then attended St. John’s University. Ken was an Army Air Force Pilot for four years during World War II. After the couple moved back to St. Cloud; from 1953–1956 he owned and operated Ken Cater’s Sports Shop in the basement of the old Guaranty State Bank. From 1956–1959 he was a salesman and gunsmith for Thielman Hardware. For the next 28 years, he went to work for Gopher Shooters Supply in Faribault as a sales representative for central and northern MN. Ken started trapshooting in the early 1950’s. He became a Director of the MN Trapshooting Association in 1965; in 1968 he was elected Vice President; in 1969 elected President and then back to serving as Director. Ken was treasurer from 1969–1975 and was appointed MTA Secretary and Treasurer for sometime after that. He helped a good many clubs get started. Ken has won several community service awards and trophies because of his involvement with trapshooting. In 1990, Ken was inducted into the Minnesota Trapshooting Association Hall of Fame. Ken was also an avid hunter. He loved duck and goose hunting and many years back he enjoyed spending the opener for deer hunting with his brother, brothers-in-law and nephews at the ’deer camp’. Many a story was told. He went partridge hunting with his wife and daughter and every spring he and his wife Jinny, would go prairie dog hunting in N.D. Ken loved to travel with his family all over the U. S. and overseas. He loved to play golf. Ken was a member of the St. John’s Alumni, Elks Club-for 32 years, the Cold Spring American Legion Post #455, the NRA, and Ducks Unlimited. Ken was known by some as “Hawk”. Ken always had a lot of stories to tell people regarding his life’s’ adventures. He treated everyone with respect and loved everything and everyone around him. He never missed anything his daughter or grandchildren were involved in. Ken was always there to wipe the tears away and bring a smile to your face. Life will never be the same without him.

Ken “Dad” spent the last year and a half at the VA Medical Center, Bldg. 49-1. He received the most outstanding care there and no words can express how wonderful the nurses are on that floor! They were always there when he ‘needed’ them and they were always willing to go that extra mile. They made Dad feel ‘extra special’. Dad was kept busy with the activities on ward and off ward outings. Last October he was able to go on his last deer hunt. Dad was touched so much by everyone. Thank you so very much for sharing in his life.

Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Cater-Phillips of Cold Spring; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jess and Kristi.

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Dorothy A. Honer, age 92, of St. Joseph will be at 10 am on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Collegeville, MN. The Rev. Eugene McGlothlin OSB will officiate. Burial will be in St. Boniface parish cemetery in Cold Spring, MN. Dorothy died on April 10, 2009 at her home.

Family and friends may call between 4-9 pm on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph and after 9 am on Tuesday at the church in Collegeville. Parish prayers will be at 4 pm on Monday at the funeral home in St. Joseph, MN.

Dorothy was born on April 23, 1916 in St. Augusta, MN to Clement and Mary (Gohman) Potthoff. She married Waldemar "Wally" Franklin Honer on September 24, 1938 at St. Mary's Help of Christians Catholic Church in St. Augusta, MN. They were in their sixty-first year of marriage when Wally passed away in 1999.

Dorothy was a life-long resident of the St. Cloud area, a member of the Daughters of Isabella and Crosier Apostolate, and a member of St. John the Baptist church in Collegeville, MN.

Dorothy loved visiting with family and friends and always had a pot of coffee and cookies ready for anyone who stopped in. She was an avid Twins and Vikings fan and also enjoyed watching CNN. Her other interests included playing cards, watching birds, enjoying the activity of the maple syrup operation on her farm, and keeping track of her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons and daughters, Pamela (Daniel) Eller and Lancelot (Valerie) of Cold Spring, Michelle (Thomas) Carlson, Wayne (Doreen) and Frederick (Jean) of St. Joseph, John (Judy) of La Porte, Randall (Cheryl) of St. Augusta and William of Walker, twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, sisters Olga Schneider of Watkins and Edna Kraus of Blaine.

She was preceded in death by her husband Waldemar on March 18, 1999, two sisters, two brothers and one great grandson.

Al was born in St. Augusta, MN to Theodore and Catherine (Gohman) Hinkemeyer. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was founder of Buffalo Collision Repair. Al was devoted to his family, and enjoyed spending time with his special neighbors and friends. He was an avid fisherman and gardener, who loved his more than 40 years on the Horseshoe Chain of Lakes. He was a member of the Cold Spring American Legion Post #455 and Buffalo American Legion Post #270, where he was past commander.

Tim was born in St. Wendell Township, MN to Vincent and Anna (Pogatshnik) Murphy. He married Frances Zupan on April 18, 1944 at the Church of St. Stephen, St. Stephen, MN. Tim worked for Cold Spring Granite Co. for 22 years and then founded Murphy Granite Carving, Inc. in Richmond where he was president of the company until March 10, 2003. Tim was a member of St. Boniface Parish, NRA, Ducks Unlimited and a past member of Northwest Monument Builders, Monument Builders of North America, U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.

Eddie served in the United States Army from February 23, 1945 thru December 16, 1946. He retired from the Cold Spring Granite Company after 41 years of employment. Eddie enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, playing cards, reading, playing the accordion, and baseball-especially the Minnesota Twins. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Catholic Order of Foresters and the Cold Spring American Legion.

Pat was born in Excelsior, MN to Harry and Marie (Happ) Heutmaker. She married Richard James Ryan on May 1, 1950 in St. Joan of Arc Church, Minneapolis. Prior to her retirement, Pat worked in Advertising Sales for Cooperative Church Supply in St. Louis Park. She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, gardening, and cooking. Pat volunteered with the Stearns County South Central Food Shelf, traveled the United States with her husband and traveled to Europe with her sister, Margie. She loved quilting and passed this gift on. She now resides with her Lord and Savior.

Celestine was born in Collegeville, MN to August and Justina (Reisinger) Pierskalla. He married Marie Schmitz on June 4, 1946 in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Richmond. He worked at St. John’s from 1944 to 1947, and at the Cold Spring Granite Company from 1948 – 1956. For the next 32 years he worked for Monumental Sales, Inc. in St. Cloud as a foreman until his retirement in 1989. He loved to watch and feed the birds, woodworking, traveling, enjoying trips to Irondale, AL and visiting with Mother Angelica and the EWTN staff. A favorite trip was to Germany with the Maennerchor in 1991. He loved the Lord and spending precious time with his family. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Knights of Columbus, 30 plus year member of the St. Boniface Church Choir and Area Maennerchor, St. Boniface Resurrection Choir, St. Joseph’s Society, TEC and Koinonia.

Lorraine enjoyed baking (especially buns), quilting, bowling, sewing, upholstery and drapery work, fishing, playing cards and gardening. She was a member of St. Martin Parish, St. Ann’s Christian Women, Our Lady of Fatima Mission Group, St. Paul’s Mission Group, Catholic Aid Association, and the Rosary Sodality.

Bonnie was born in Wheaton, MN to Warren and Mabel (Hoaglund) Pearson. She married George Filiatrault on January 1, 2001 in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Cold Spring. Bonnie worked for the past 17 years at Dezurik. She enjoyed doing crafts and writing to her many pen pals. Bonnie volunteered many hours to her church, school, Tri-Cap, Cold Spring area food shelf, and she also started the TOPS group in Cold Spring. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Bonnie was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and the St. Cloud Aeire.

Survivors include her husband, George; children, Warren Schmidt, Kari (Michael) Murphy, Jeri Schmidt, Lana Schmidt, Scott Filiatrault, Eric (Jill) Filiatrault; 7 grandchildren; mother, Mabel (Don) Johnson; siblings, Barb (Jerry) Griewhan, Sharon Koshiol, Sheryl (Carl) Wesenberg and David Meyer.

Alan Koska, age 48

Al was born in St. Cloud, MN to Victor and Esther (Terres) Koska. At the age of 4 the family moved to Cold Spring where Al attended St. Boniface Elementary School, ROCORI High School (graduating in 1979), and St. Cloud Technical College. Al worked 17 years at Fingerhut and was currently working at Border States Electric in St. Cloud. He was an avid bowler, bowling as many as 3 nights a week on different leagues. Al achieved several 300 games and held the title of ‘Bowler of the Year’ in Cold Spring several different years. He was a Boy Scout with Troop # 15 when he was younger. Al enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards and woodworking.

Survivors include his mother, Esther Koska (Assumption Nursing Home), of Cold Spring; brother, Gary (Nancy) Koska of Cold Spring; significant other, Diane of Richmond; many other relatives and friends.

Stephanie was a member of the St. Cloud School of Dance for 10 years…she loved to dance! She looked forward to spending time with her family and friends, and camping. Stephanie taught a lot of people the true meaning of ‘friendship’ and will be missed by her family, friends and her dog, Jerry. She was a member of St. Boniface Parish.

Eileen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a homemaker and liked doing arts and crafts, sewing and playing cards. She was a member of St. Boniface Parish and Christian Women.

Joanne M. Pratt, 49
December 2, 1959 - February 22, 2009

JoAnne Marie (Senart) Pratt was born December 2, 1959 in Holdingford, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Ann (Denk) Senart. She was raised in Holdingford where attended school. In 1976 her family moved to Cold Spring where she graduated from high school in 1978.

Following her schooling she enlisted in the United States Air Force. After a brief time with the Air Force she returned to Minnesota and lived in Melrose and later Avon where she worked as a waitress. On September 8, 1919 JoAnne was united in marriage to Douglas Brackin at the Forada Presbyterian Church. JoAnne was blessed with two children, Rachael and Bradley. The couple moved to Cedar Park, TX. JoAnne worked at a nursing home in Austin and later at Motorola. She then became a home health aide.

On February 14, 1994 JoAnne was united in marriage to Leland Pratt at Leland’s parents’ home. The family moved to New Mexico where JoAnne established a business making and selling pottery. While living in New Mexico, JoAnne was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease. As the disease progressed JoAnne’s daughter, Rachael, took over her mother’s care in 1998. JoAnne was brought back to Minnesota and made her home at the Viking Towers. As her disease progressed JoAnne eventually moved to Knute Nelson.

JoAnne enjoyed spending time shopping and going out to eat at Perkins. She enjoyed hot air ballooning and participated as a crewmember at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. JoAnne loved celebrating Christmas. She also served her family as historian and genealogist. Most special to JoAnne was the time she spent with her grandchildren; she couldn’t have loved them more.

On Sunday, February 22, 2009 JoAnne died at the age of forty-nine years. JoAnne was active with the Huntington’s Disease Society. As a gesture of love and hope for her family JoAnne chose to donate her body to science. The Harvard medical School, doing research on Huntington’s will benefit directly from JoAnne’s donation. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Senart; her twin sons, Jude & Simon; her brother, Duane Senart; and an infant niece, Kelly. JoAnne is survived by her daughter, Rachael Radil and husband, Matthew, of Alexandria; her son, Bradley Brackin and friend, Julia, of Fifty Lakes, MN; her grandchildren, James Radil, Evan Radil, Jordan Brackin, McKenzie Brackin, and Christian Brackin; one brother, Mike Senart of Wisconsin; and two sisters, Jolene Woodard and husband, Richard, of Osakis, MN and Barb Swanton and husband, Scott, of Florida.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, MN. Rev. Joan Wittrock officiated. American Legion Post 87 and VFW Post 936 provided military honors.

Leo was born in Cold Spring, MN to Joseph and Anna (Fleischhacker) Salzer. He married Philomene A. Kohorst on June 14, 1949 at St. Martin Catholic Church. Leo loved spending time with his family. Farming was his passion to live off the land and supply a good income for his family. He spent lots of time tinkering with his Massey-Ferguson equipment, picking agates, cutting wood, and working with his cattle, pigs and chickens. There was never a boring time for him as he was always busy from sunrise to sunset. If he was not working, he was visiting with neighbors and friends. He will be missed for his humor and sarcasm and his loving heart.

Alice was born in St. Cloud, MN to Louis and Louise (Donner) Golembeck. She was baptized October 26, 1919 and confirmed in 1933. Alice married William R. Schulz on July 18, 1942 at the Peace United Church of Christ in St. Cloud, MN. Alice was a homemaker and washed laundry at the ROCORI High School in Cold Spring for many years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidering, cross stitch and playing cards.

Survivors include her children, Herbert (Cathy) Schulz and Dee Dee Bruyere; grandchildren, Jessica (Christopher) Bryan and Kortnie, Jacqueline, Hailey, and Cody Schulz; great-grandchildren Trysta Bruyere and Jonathan Bryan.

Tresa I. Young, age 89 of South Haven, formerly of Kimball died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Lakeside Community Home of Dassel, where she was a resident for the past two weeks.

Tresa Irene Young was born on October 9, 1919 in Meeker County to Timothy and Florence (Gilman) Miller. She married Leo P. Young on April 18, 1936 in Darwin and he preceded her in death on October 8, 1998. She lived in Meeker County most of her life where they farmed and raised 10 children. Tresa worked at Travelers Inn and Nortronic in Golden Valley. She was a member of St. Annes Catholic Church, Kimball. Tresa enjoyed baking bread, pies and donuts, playing cards, ice fishing and spending time with her family and friends.

Clarence served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. Prior to being shipped over seas he taught in the Tracked Vehicle School at Fort Knox, KY. He worked at International Harvester in St. Cloud for over 20 years as a mechanic. He later worked at St. Cloud State University from 1970 – 1983 where he was in charge of the motorized equipment. He also enjoyed mowing grass, building things, gardening and snowmobiling. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Richmond American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his children, Ed (Marlys) of Sauk Rapids, Carol F. Thompson of Lake Elmo, MaryAnn (Gregory) Johnson of Richmond and John S. (Joyce) of Eden Valley; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was a butcher, meat cutter, and owner of Vogt Food Market. He served his community as mayor, councilman, planning commission and being part of the deputy sheriff’s special unit. Eric was proud of his community and always strived to help it continue to grow and prosper. His positive attitude in life will be missed, but sure to be carried on in his children and grandchildren. Eric enjoyed hunting, fishing, welding, building projects and just being an all around handyman. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish.

Edwin was a life long farmer and owner and operator of Torborg Manufacturing where he made and fixed many things from television antennas to snow blowers. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, cribbage and telling stories. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Aid Association, Richmond American Legion #292 and the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery Committee.

Jeanne Hazel Dreher, age 77, St. Cloud, MN, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Rockville, MN.

Jeanne was born October 7, 1931 in Great Falls, MT to Robert and Hazel (Bureau) Lapeyre. She graduated from Great Falls High School and attended the School of Business, Minneapolis, MN for two years. She was employed by Travelers Insurance, St. Louis Park, MN for seven years, retiring in 1990. Jeanne moved to Annandale and then to St. Cloud in 1995. She belonged to Whitney Senior Center, was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Georgianne Dreher and Larry Dimatteo of Rockville, MN; two grandchildren, Adele and Peter, and a sister, Val Bilinski of Portland, OR.

Bonnie lived in the Sartell area all of her married life. She was a Special Education and classroom Teacher at Cold Spring Elementary School for most of her career, retiring in 2005. Bonnie was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she was a religion teacher and a member of the Christian Women. Bonnie was a peer monitor with the State of Minnesota Department of Education.

Norman R. Pfaff, Age 72
November 10, 1936 - December 31, 2008

After a duration of several health complications, Norman Pfaff, 72, passed away at 11:55 a.m. on December 31, 2008 at the Melrose Hospital.

Norman was born November 10, 1936 in Burnhamville Township to John Adolf Pfaff and Marguerite Louise Day Pfaff. On September 15, 1956, Norman was married to the lovely Annabelle Irene Schindler at Swanville Lutheran parsonage. He was a machinist until poor health forced him into early retirement. He loved to camp, fish and hunt. Even in his later years when he was in constant pain, he always wore a smile and a joke was never far behind. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and ability to spread love and laughter to everyone who was fortunate to cross his path.

Survivors include his wife Annabelle Pfaff; children John (Roxy) Pfaff, Melrose; Sandy Pfaff-Wolf, Cold Spring; and Jim (Phyllis) Pfaff, Brainerd; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Norman is also survived by his brothers Glen (Esther) Pfaff and Bernard (Irene) Pfaff; and sisters Maxine (Tony) Lawrence and Harriet (Elmer) Nielson. He was preceded in death by his son Randy who died at 1 month on June 27, 1958; along with his parents John and Marguerite; brother Calvin (Mary) Pfaff; and sisters Audrey (Mike) Taube and Donna (Leonard) Johnson.

Delores was born in St. Paul, MN and raised by John and Mary Hansen. She loved visiting with family and friends, reading, cross word puzzles, cards, yahtzee and was a lover of animals-especially horses. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Waite Park and formerly of St. Boniface Parish in Cold Spring.

Survivors include her aunts, Rose Schwegel and Mary Ann Terwey; uncles, Willie Hansen and Lawrence Hansen; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 11 aunts and uncles.
