I was up early one Sunday morning, watching television news programs. Seeing the unrest in Minneapolis and knowing how long it has been going on is unsettling. From other news sources sent to me by text message, I watched video accounts of ICE agents in Cold Spring \u2013 who would have thought?<\/p>\n
Not helping the situation are the \u201cprofessional\u201d protesters stirring things up by protesting against those protesting the ICE agents being there in the first place.<\/p>\n
The same morning, news stations on television reported on President Trump\u2019s interest in acquiring Greenland. Why? What I learned was that our President claims we need Greenland for national security concerns. Apparently, Greenland plugs a hole in our air-defense system. Not to mention the rare earths in Greenland\u2019s ground, but quantities are difficult to confirm since not much mining is done there (Wikipedia).<\/p>\n
I can\u2019t imagine being a resident of Greenland and hearing this news. To me, it doesn\u2019t seem much different than Russia\u2019s desire to acquire land in Ukraine \u2013 hopefully the United States will refrain from using force.<\/p>\n

On a lighter note, have you noticed the days are getting longer? The temperatures in central Florida have been cool (I still can\u2019t call it cold here when it\u2019s just below freezing). Since moving where it\u2019s warmer, I keep an eye on the weather in Minnesota, and I remember those cold (really cold) days and nights \u2013 and the snow.<\/p>\n
You\u2019ll have to put up with the cold for another couple of months, then the snow will melt, the days will be longer and warmer, and things will turn green again.<\/p>\n
