If you are looking for a place to go for a few days and like a variety of entertainment options and a host of other activities, I suggest taking a trip to Branson, MO.<\/p>\n
A couple of weeks ago we spent a few days there. It wasn\u2019t the best time of year to go since the weather can be a bit unpredictable and since this time of year isn\u2019t the prime time to go the list of entertainment options is slightly reduced from Branson\u2019s prime time (summer).<\/p>\n
We stayed at a resort on the northern edge of the town and navigating the town is very easy during the off-season, when there are considerably fewer people visiting the area.<\/p>\n
Driving in Branson has changed a lot since the first time I visited \u2013 they\u2019ve built \u201cloop\u201d roads that take you away from the more traveled roads and save you a lot of time in traffic. Branson is a scenic area and there are very few level spots, but roads and parking lots are well-constructed and make good use of the available space.<\/p>\n
There are a lot of choices for entertainment but since we were there a bit too early there were a couple of shows we would have loved to see that didn\u2019t have show times scheduled. What we did see was a show called the Comedy Jamboree \u2013 comedy and singing combined, and SIX \u2013 six brothers who sing acapella. Both shows were about two hours and the cost was less than $30 per person.<\/p>\n
There is no shortage of places to eat, and many hotels, but if you plan to go during the summer months you\u2019ll want to make reservations as early as you can.<\/p>\n
Our drive from Florida was about sixteen hours, and I\u2019m no spring chicken any longer so we broke our driving time up with hotel stays. If you\u2019re going from the Cold Spring\/Richmond\/Rockville area you\u2019ll have about eleven hours of driving.<\/p>\n
You won\u2019t have any trouble finding ticket outlets \u2013 they all claim to have the best prices, but we found they were all fairly comparable. You won\u2019t have any trouble finding show venues as long as you have a cell phone with Google Maps, Waze, or any other mapping app.<\/p>\n
With many choices for entertainment, and other activities, you won\u2019t have trouble finding things to do. Prices are reasonable \u2013 except if you dine out, but that\u2019s true everywhere.<\/p>\n
Our stay was cut short one day because we were paying attention to the weather in the area and severe weather was predicted so we left early in the morning the day the weather was coming in.<\/p>\n
During our drive to and from we stayed at three different hotels and to my surprise the one I\u2019d recommend above any other is La Quinta.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m not sure we will take a return trip to Branson, but one never knows.<\/p>\n
