
Our beloved Mary Lou Schmitz, 91, of Roseville, MN, passed away on June 25, 2026. She died peacefully in her sleep while in hospice care. Mary Lou was born May 11, 1935 to Henry and Anna Albers of Rockville, MN. She was raised on the family farm with 7 sisters and 3 brothers. A 1953 graduate of Cathedral High School, she married Donald Schmitz in 1955 and they made their home in Roseville. The great joys of her life were quilting, golfing, traveling, her faith in God and spending time with family and friends. We’ll forever remember her radiant smile, quick wit, timeless sense of fashion, and her devotion to her family.
She is survived by her husband Don and their four daughters, Sharon (Don) Miller, Nancy (Steve) Fox, Lori (Ray) Scheller, Karla (Dan) Schultz, grandchildren, Allison (Vince) Flook and Samuel Schmidt, Mark (Stefani), Robert and Adam Fox; Matthew Scheller, Henry and Benjamin Schultz, and great-grandchildren Vince III, Jacob, and Brickell; Marlow and Felix; Connor and Myles. Also survived by sisters Ruth Mueller, Jeanie Mueller, Irene Zeppelin and Joyce (Wayne) Gretsch; brothers and sisters in-law Marilyn Albers, Shirley Albers, Lorraine Schmitz, Fritz and Carol Schmitz, Leona Jungels, Robert and Mary Ann Schmitz, Joanne Schmitz, LeRoy and JoAnn Schmitz, grandson in-law Jeremie Sherrick and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Anna Albers, granddaughter Angie Sherrick, siblings Florence (Ferdinand) Schroden, Virginia (Joe) Feneis, Lucille (Arnie) Mueller, Chuck Albers, Hubert (Dorothy) Albers, Jim Albers, infants Dennis and Judy, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Rey Mueller, Pete Mueller, Ed Zeppelin, George (Dorothy), Ervin and Edmund Schmitz, Marie (Dan) Loso, Eileen (Al) Walz, Louise (Jim) Dingmann, and Norbert Jungels.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 17 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Roseville. Visitation one hour prior at 10:00 a.m. Private interment at Fort Snelling Cemetery will be held at a later date. Roseville Memorial Chapel, 651-631-2727.
