I believe you’d have to be pretty “off your rocker” to plan an attack on the President of the United States, no matter who the President is, yet there have been three attempts on our current President.
The latest happened at a Correspondence Dinner in Washington. The person accused of the planned attack had arrived the day before the event – he took a train from California to Washington, and checked into the hotel where the Dinner was held.
The accused is a 31-year-old California teacher and had a manifesto that indicated he planned to kill administration officials from highest-ranking to lowest. He ran past a security checkpoint with several weapons. He shot one security agent and was shot at several times before he was subdued.
It’s not clear exactly how close this shooter got to the room where those targets were, but, interestingly, he was able to get as far as he did, considering the President and Vice-President were both in that room.
The information available makes it clear that this was a premeditated event that took a lot of thought and planning.
One would think anyone making these types of plans would be aware that he/she would be putting their own life on the line, knowing his/her targets have the best security in the Nation surrounding them.
The entire event makes me wonder how delusional someone has to be to think they have any chance of success. We should also question just what pushed this person as far as to think he needed to make these plans in the first place. This particular person was obviously well educated and very resourceful.
The attempts on President Trump’s life make me wonder why anyone would want to put themselves in that office, knowing there will be people crazy enough to put a target on their back.
Three attempts on our President’s life in about a two-year period proves we are living in crazy times.
