The 1st Annual ROCORI Ice Bowl was held on January 18th at The Chain Disc Golf Course in Cold Spring, MN, hosted by Friends of Wakefield Township Sportsman Park. Competitors were greeted with classic Minnesota winter conditions—temperatures well below freezing and a fresh inch of snow from the night before that added both beauty and challenge to the course.
Thanks to the generosity of competitors, sponsors, volunteers, and spectators, the event raised $3,306 in cash and collected over 180 pounds of food. All donations were delivered to the ROCORI Food Shelf to support families in the local community.

Event Organization
Event Director Adam Gorres reflected on the day:
“Outdoor mid‑January conditions could be anything here, so we lucked out really. As the day got longer the temps really dropped and the wind picked up.”
With strong turnout and enthusiasm for a first‑year event, the ROCORI Ice Bowl set a high bar for the future. The blend of competitive spirit, community engagement, and charitable giving made it a memorable day for everyone involved.
The event wrapped up at The Side Bar, where players gathered for awards, conversation, and a warm, festive finish to a cold winter round.
Sportsman Park
Sportsman Park has undergone significant improvements thanks to a Stearns County Park Department grant, including the addition of the new disc golf course. Future plans include upgrades to the ball fields, development of a walking trail, pavilion renovations, and expanded water access for fishing and kayaking—all aimed at welcoming visitors of all ages.
Disc Golf Ice Bowl events take place worldwide, uniting disc golf communities to support local charities during the winter months and collectively raising substantial donations each year.
The Chain DGC at Sportsman Park is located at 22186 Co. Rd. 2, Cold Spring, MN 56320.
