I retired nearly four years ago. Since retiring and moving to Florida, I can tell you one of the things I’ve missed from my working days was taking time to go on vacation. While I was still working, most of my vacation time was spent on ten-day motorcycle trips. I always enjoyed those trips – the planning, the anticipation, then the time away seeing things I was privileged to see.
Most of those trips were just under, or just over, the 3,000-mile mark, and we seldom spent more than a day or two in any area.
In all my travels, there are a few places I’d love to see again. One of them being Branson, Missouri.
Once I retired, it didn’t feel as necessary to plan vacations as it did when I was working, so for the past four years, there were no plans to travel anywhere. I’m not sure why the desire to travel somewhere took this long to catch up to me, but it did, and we made plans to travel back to Branson this spring. When you read this column, we will have been in Branson for a couple days and will be heading back south before this next weekend.
If you’ve never been to Branson, I can share with you that the area is fairly easy to navigate, there is a lot to do, there are a lot of choices for shows, and prices are very reasonable. I’ve never been there this early in the year, but I would imagine there will be less people than during the summer months, so getting tickets and participating in other things should be easier.
There were no plans made for which shows we’ll see because there are many ticket outlets and people there will help us find the shows we will enjoy.
The predicted weather will be a little cooler than what we’re used to, so we’ll need a light jacket and warmer clothes, but the weather won’t disrupt our plans.
I’ll do my best to report on the details of this trip in a couple weeks.
Have A Good Week!
