I know it has been over a week since the “big game” on the football field, but I wanted to comment that a team I was in favor of winning finally won. I wasn’t in favor of the “three-peat” that could have happened if KC had played better than they did or if Philly would have played worse. As it turned out, Kansas City didn’t seem to have much of a chance of winning their third Super Bowl game.
We were invited to the home of some friends for a big game party where there were so many people that hearing the game was nearly impossible. We planned to leave at halftime and get back to our house at the start of the third quarter. It worked out well, and from what I’ve heard, we didn’t miss much when we missed the halftime show. I guess that I wouldn’t have recognized much of the music, and to tell the truth, I don’t recall the name of the entertainer.
Where I now live, we put more miles on our golf carts than we do our car, and it might have taken a few extra minutes to get back home, but the timing was perfect.
I know you folks back home in Minnesota have been dealing with winter weather still – which is hard to imagine since our high temperatures are hovering around the 80-degree mark and we’re back to golfing in short pants and short-sleeved shirts.

When it was first reported that President Trump was putting tariffs on products from Canada, Mexico, and China, I was not in full agreement with the move because I wasn’t sure how it would affect consumers in the United States. I figured the tariffs wouldn’t last long. As it turns out, the tariffs, for the most part, were suspended for 30 days. Why? They already started working by getting Canada and Mexico to the bargaining table to negotiate trade agreements.
As an afterthought, I realized that was probably the original intention.
Another news release I saw last week informed readers that President Trump announced that there would be tariffs imposed on all steel and aluminum imported into the United States by other countries. The intention is to give American companies producing aluminum and steel an advantage over importing countries, helping American companies market to companies needing those products.
This might mean slightly higher prices for products using steel and aluminum, but it will help American companies employ more people and sell more products.
The theory makes sense, but only time will tell how well it works.
Stay warm! The days are getting longer and it won’t be long until the grass is growing again.
Have A Good Week!
