BRRRRRRRR! That’s what I have to say about your weather last week. I remember the days all too well – when the temperatures barely reached zero. To make it worse, when it was that cold, I remember it being windy, so the “real feel” temperature was much colder than the actual temperature. Those cold days seemed to last forever, even when it might have been less than a week.

After almost four years here in Florida, I’ve started to tolerate the “cold” here less and less – defining cold as anything less than 40 degrees. There aren’t too many days when my golf group decides it’s too cold, but it happens – all of us know the cold days will pass and much warmer days aren’t far away, so we cancel our tee times and wait a few days for more comfortable weather.

The cold you just experienced was the variety that produced squeaks when you walked on the snow and forced you to cover as much of your skin as humanly possible.

Your warmer days will come, but it won’t be for another few months. I’m not sure I will ever want to experience that kind of cold again, so I’ll stay away from Minnesota during winter. If I could, I’d send you all some warmer air.

****

Pathetic. Dismal. Disappointing. Embarrassing. Horrible. Those are all ways to describe the last two games of the Minnesota Vikings’ season. Those last two games proved that the star quarterback couldn’t handle the pressure of big games, and fans would have probably been disappointed if the team happened to make it to the biggest game of the year.

It’s too bad too, because the team seemed to have found ways to make sure they won games 14 times and had one of the best records in recent memory. Until those last two games, the team’s head coach was being touted as the quarterback coach of the year – and the quarterback was in the running for the most valuable player.

In the grand scheme of life, whether the Vikings performed well doesn’t matter much at all, but for Viking fans, it feels like another disappointing end to a season that led a lot of us to believe there was some hope for our team.

Something I’ve said and heard way too many times is, “Maybe next year.”

Have A Good Week!
