Joan D. Spoden, 92, of Cold Spring, MN died Wednesday, October 23, 2024, surrounded by family.
Joan was born June 8, 1932 in Stearns County, MN, to Joseph and Anna (Notch) Fiereck. She was the sixth of eight children and spent her youth in the Central MN area. Upon graduation, Joan’s adventurous spirit led her to head out in her little red convertible to experience various parts of the country before returning home to Minnesota.
Joan married Clarence Spoden on May 21, 1960. They moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and built a beautiful family. She was blessed with six children. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to read, was a great cook and talented seamstress. She had a knack for reupholstering and could make furniture look new again. She worked for H&R Block for over 40 years. Upon retirement, Joan and Clarence moved back to central Minnesota and built their dream home on Big Fish Lake. Joan cherished family time and was happiest when the family gathered together, enjoying good food, drinks and lots of laughter.
Survivors include her children, Jeffrey (Marty) Spoden, Daniel Spoden, Ronald (Nancy) Spoden, Lynne (Jeff) Twedt, Sharon (Tony) Ugulini and Karin (Pierre) Kisting; 11 grandchildren, Jessie (Nate) Grove, Danele Spoden, Zach Spoden, Jared (Chelsea) Twedt, Kelsey (Evan) Schraut, Kamron Twedt, Ben Kisting, Ajay Twedt, Makenna Kisting, Reese Ugulini and Rylie Ugulini; 1 great grandson, Deacon Schraut; and a sister, Janette Schlichting.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, her parents, four sisters, two infant brothers and a daughter-in-law.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at St. Boniface Church, Cold Spring, MN. Burial will immediately follow the service at St. Boniface Cemetery, Cold Spring, MN.
