Cold Spring Home Pride Lions Luci and Sherri performed vision screening at the MN State Fair on August 30th. The free vision screening was done for children 6 months – 18 years. The Vision Screening Device we use produces images of a child’s eyes to determine the presence of eye disorders including: far-and-near-sightedness, lazy-eye, astigmatism, anisometropia (unequal refractive power),strabismus, (misaligned eyes), and media opacities (e.g., cataracts). No physical contact is made with a child and no eye drops are used during the vision screening. This screening is very effective in detecting problems that cause reduced vision. Some eye problems can be corrected if found before 7 years of age. 80% of a child’s learning and development requires healthy corrected vision. If your child wears glasses – make sure they bring them to school. We will be doing vision screening in the Cold Spring and Richmond school districts this month.
