I don’t want to jinx the team, but 5-0? Which is really 10-0 when the end of last season is added to this year’s wins. If you haven’t guessed, I’m referring to the Minnesota Vikings. Yes, the game is still on our television whenever the team is playing, and we still want them to do well. Like any fan, I’d love to live long enough to see them win the Super Bowl. There have been many years when the team has been hyped as being “the team” that will accomplish that feat – but, as all of us Viking fans know, it hasn’t happened yet.
Maybe this is the year? We’ll see.

When we first moved to Florida, I was surprised to find out that summer is the rainy season, and the dry season is during the winter months. In the summer, there are weeks in a row when you can count on an almost daily ten- to twenty-minute heavy rain – usually in the afternoon – when I say “heavy,” I mean drops bigger than I’ve seen anywhere. When you’d think using irrigation to keep things green would be in the hot summer months, it’s surprising that winter is when we use the most water from our home to keep things alive.
There are times when systems coming in from the ocean create unusual storm systems as far inland as our area, and last week was one of those times when rain over about four days totaled 17 inches. It is very rare to have rain falling from the sky for more than two full days, followed by on-and-off rain for an additional couple of days, but that’s what the clouds gave us here.
I know from words passed on by people we know traveling to and from the northern parts of our United States that the weather is getting colder and colder as the days go on. That’s something I’ve really lost touch with since moving south; it’s hard to think about cold when the high temperatures are still climbing into the low 90s.
So far, our area of Florida has escaped any threats from hurricanes, but the season isn’t quite over; it goes from June 1st to November 30th, so I plan to keep my fingers crossed.
Enjoy your fall weather. I remember it as one of the most enjoyable times of the year.
Have A Good Week!
