Cold Spring Home Pride Lions and District 5M8 were represented at the Minnesota State Fair on September 4th when District 5M8 Governor Diann Bellmont and Lion Luci Sparby volunteered at the Lions KidSight booth along with First District Governor of District 5M8 and KidSight Chair Marty Breuer of the Mora Lions Club and PDG Vince Thiel and Lion Trisha Thiel of the Sauk Rapids Riverside Lions Club.
Lions KidSight provides free, touch less vision screenings for children ages six months through 18 years. The quick screening helps identify vision concerns that can be difficult for parents and caregivers to recognize in young children. The KidSight screening looks for several major vision issues, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, misaligned eyes (strabismus), unequal pupil size, early signs of cataracts, lazy eye (amblyopia), and eyelid droop. Early detection of vision problems is important because identifying concerns at a young age can help children receive appropriate follow-up care and avoid potential impacts on their learning and development. The Minnesota Lions are proud to support programs like KidSight that help children see their world more clearly and give families the opportunity to address potential vision concerns early.
The Cold Spring Home Pride Lions will be doing vision screening at the Public and Parochial Elementary schools in Cold Spring and Richmond as well as some area daycares soon. Please reach out to our Club if you have any questions about the screenings we do.
