The Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed new member Dalton Thelen, a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual. Chamber Ambassadors met with Dalton to learn more about his background, services, and his desire to grow his professional presence in his hometown community.
Dalton is a 2018 graduate of ROCORI High School and the son of longtime Sts. Peter & Paul teacher Mrs. Thelen, who has served the school for 29 years. After high school, he attended Gustavus Adolphus College where he played both football and baseball, spending five years with the program during the COVID period.
Following college, Dalton began his career in education. He student-taught in Cleveland, Minnesota, and later taught first and third grade in the same district. Although he enjoyed working with students, he felt called to a different path. A conversation with a Managing Director at Northwestern Mutual introduced him to an opportunity in financial advising, and Dalton transitioned into the role, where he has now been for just over a year.
Dalton serves clients in ten states and focuses on helping young adults transition from college into their careers, especially as they navigate work benefits, open enrollment, and foundational financial planning. His background in education has strengthened his ability to explain complex topics in a clear and approachable way. He also enjoys working with established families, particularly those preparing for retirement.
While Dalton’s branch office is located in Mankato, he remains closely connected to the Cold Spring area. He plays summer baseball locally and joined the Cold Spring Area Chamber with the goal of building a strong client base in the community where he grew up. He currently resides in Belle Plaine but travels frequently to meet with clients.
Dalton can be reached at Dalton.thelen@nm.com or 320-774-7252.
The Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome Dalton and looks forward to supporting his continued growth in the region.
