On Saturday, October 12, 2025 members of the Cold Spring Fire Department, along with the Mayor, Council and Administrator Dockendorf conducted a unique befitting commemoration to the long awaited new Fire Hall by separating the link between 2 fire hoses! Certainly not the “usual” ribbon cutting! A celebration followed the ceremony with activities for all ages and of course the opportunity to tour the new facility. The Rocori FFA provided a petting zoo and the milking cow to name a few.
This officially celebrates the years of planning and hard work toward this new facility; nearly 10 years in the making. The department had long outgrown the old facility housed at City Hall. Going clear back to 2016, the initial space study of City Hall was conducted to point out the needs of each department housed in the building to best determine the needs and space needed for each department of the city, such as; city administration, fire department, police department, and the library. Then later, discussion of financing of the Fire/Police building, council then established a committee for the design and construction process for the project with the original plan to build on city property near the water facility, which later changed to the current location. An architect firm was secured, design finally completed and the project went out for bids in August 2024. Then, finally on October 9, 2024 during National Fire Prevention Week, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the long awaited project!
After years of hard work, we can celebrate the opening of the new facility that will serve the community for many years! Congratulations!
