John Edmund Kascht, age 88, a native of Richmond, MN and resident of Madera, CA for 35 years passed away peacefully at home Sunday, September 14, 2025. Affectionately known as the Big Kahuna, John was a shining light to all who knew him. He was well known for his beautiful singing ability and was a member of the choir at St. Joachim Catholic Church for 20 years. He was a member of the Madera Elks Lodge for 22 years where he was part of a cooking crew who donated their time and resources helping families in need. John also loved golfing, hunting and fishing as well as traveling. He will be missed by all of those who knew him!
He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Mary Kascht, his brother Richard Kascht, his sons Darren Kascht and Dale Kascht, and his daughter Kim Kascht and his parents Norbert and Clara Kascht.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Kristine Kascht of Madera, CA and Katie (Rob) Cunningham of Ilwaco, WA, his daughter-in-law Fatima Kascht of Folsom, CA, his sister Theresa (Jerry) Gertken of Richmond, MN, and brother Victor (Melda) Kascht of Shore View, MN. He was the grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of six (soon to be seven).
A graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 11 a.m. with a celebration of life immediately following at Sugar Pine Smokehouse banquet room at The Madera Municipal Golf Course.
