On Tuesday, October 22nd the Cold Spring Area Historical Society held their annual membership meeting at the Sts. Peter & Paul Gathering Center. As a Historian of the Year the individual or business demonstrates a strong support of the society, volunteering, promoting and working towards the on-going success of the museum and the society. This year’s chosen individual Historian was Harvey Dingmann. Harvey is a long-term member of the organization, frequently hosting at the museum, attending and working on fundraising activities as well as being a walking encyclopedia of the history of the surrounding communities. Congratulation Harvey!
A second award that is given each year is to a business or organization that has promoted the Historical Society and the museum. This year’s recoupment is the Cold Spring Co-op. Prior to the removal of the Opera House the Co-op was kind enough to allow several of the Historical Society’s board members to tour the building as well as remove a number of Opera House artifacts for the museum. In the picture Ralph Schlangen accepts the award on behalf of the Co-op. Congratulations to our Historians of the Year!
