Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Rockville, MN for Mary Ellen Simon, age 71. Mary Ellen lost her courageous battle with MS on December 19th, surrounded by her family.  Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Rockville, MN.

Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  Parish Prayers will be at 3:45 p.m., followed by a rosary.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service in the church.

Mary Ellen was born on December 2, 1946 in Melrose, MN to Elmer and Marie (Meyer) Korf.  She married Donald Simon on October 2, 1971 in Elrosa, MN.  She graduated from Saint Benedict High School and the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN. Mary Ellen worked at St. Rafael's Rest Home before working for the City of St. Cloud, where she worked for 19 years before her retirement.  She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, and reading. She loved spending time with friends and family; especially her granddaughters.  Mary Ellen always had a smile, even when her illness made things difficult or uncomfortable. She maintained a positive attitude through her battle with MS.

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband of 46 years, Donald, son Greg (Angie) Simon, granddaughters Emma and Faith Simon and son David (Maria) Simon.  Siblings, Giles Korf of Elrosa, MN, Marge (Ken) Elis of Sunset Beach, NC, Fr. Joe Korf of Staples, MN, Becky (Tony) Strupeck of Port St. Lucie, FL, Norma (Doug) Mahal of Lake City, MN, Steve Korf of Sauk Centre, MN, Irene Korf of Port St Lucie, FL, John (Peggy) Korf of St. Cloud, MN, and Dolores Korf of Port St. Lucie, FL and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Marie Korf; parents-in-law, Richard and Agnes Simon; brothers-in-law, Marvin Simon, and Mark Simon.

The family would like to thank Assumption Nursing Home and Quiet Oaks Hospice Care as well as all who visited Mary Ellen.
