LaVerne C. Hommerding, age 87

July 14, 1929 – March 20, 2017

A Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Country Manor Chapel in Sartell, MN for LaVerne C. Hommerding, age 87, who died Monday at Country Manor, Sartell, MN.  Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery in Cold Spring, MN.

Relatives and friends may call after 12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Country Manor Chapel.  Arrangements are with the Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring.

LaVerne was born July 14, 1929 in Pearl Lake, MN to Hubert and Rose (Schafer) Schneider.  She married Donald Hommerding on April 15, 1950 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waite Park.  LaVerne was a home daycare provider for twenty years.  She was an avid seamstress, crafter and crocheter, making matching outfits when her children of 7 were little.  Many a baby was kept warm with her flannel blankets.  LaVerne was also an excellent baker, passing along her favorite Christmas cookie recipes.
 
Survivors include her children, Sandy (Jim) Trettel, Robert, Ronald, Dennis (Judy), Randy (Denise), Laurie (Douglas) Eid and Lesa (Dan) Kramer; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren, and 1 soon to be great-great-grandchild; brothers, Harold and David Schneider; and a sister-in-law, Rita Kotschevar.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; siblings, Aggie, Leona, Victor, Sally, Betty, Eddie; daughter-in-law, Becky and an infant great grandson.
